What is PSW Pakistan?

Pakistan Single Window is set up under the Pakistan Single Window Act, 2021, with Pakistan Customs as the lead agency. It lets traders submit standard information once, through a single entry point, to meet import, export and transit requirements. WeBOC remains the Customs Management System behind it, but for traders PSW is the main interface: all WeBOC trader functions are available in PSW, and filing through PSW's Single Declaration is mandatory whenever a shipment needs a licence, permit or certificate from another agency.

Who can register on the PSW portal?

  • NTN holders: Sole proprietors, registered partnerships (AOPs) and corporate companies.
  • FTN holders (Free Tax Number): Government and diplomatic missions through a dedicated flow.
  • Foreign nationals: Registered through a dedicated verification flow that verifies a Pakistani commercial bank account instead of NADRA biometrics.
  • Licensed customs agents: Who subscribe and then register in the Customs Agent operational role.

For a company, director data is fetched directly from FBR records, and any one authorized director can complete the subscription using their own CNIC, mobile number and biometrics.

Documents and Details You Need Before You Start

  • NTN, FTN or STRN: With the FBR record up to date. PSW pulls your business name, address and email directly from FBR.
  • Access to the email registered with FBR: OTPs and your initial login activation link go there. If you cannot access it, update it in FBR IRIS before starting.
  • Mobile SIM registered against subscriber's own CNIC: PSW checks this against the Pakistan Mobile Number Portability Database (PMD). A SIM registered to the company or someone else will be rejected.
  • Original CNIC: Required physically for fingerprint biometric scanning at NADRA e-Sahulat.
  • SECP registration number or CUIN (for companies): Needed for corporate entity validation.
  • Commercial bank account with a PSW-integrated bank: For associating your banking profile after subscription.
  • Google Chrome on a computer: This is the official browser specified in the PSW User Manual for stable session execution.

PSW Registration: Step-by-Step

1 Step 1: Start the Subscription on psw.gov.pk

Visit the official portal at www.psw.gov.pk, click Subscribe, read and accept the statutory Terms and Conditions, and click Proceed.

2 Step 2: Validate Your NTN

On the Subscription Information page, select NTN holder (or FTN holder). Enter the first 7 digits of your NTN and click Validate. PSW automatically fetches your STRN, company name, principal activity, CNIC, business name, address and email from FBR. Verify these details carefully; if anything is incorrect, update it with FBR before continuing.

3 Step 3: Enter CNIC and Mobile Number, Then Generate the Voucher

Enter your CNIC and your personal mobile number without the leading zero (for example, 3331234567). Click Generate Voucher. PSW creates a Payment Slip ID (PSID) and an Application ID, sending both to you via SMS and email. Keep the Application ID safe: you will need it at NADRA e-Sahulat and to resume an unfinished session.

4 Step 4: Pay the PKR 500 Fee

Pay the statutory non-refundable PKR 500 PSID through any of the four documented Alternate Delivery Channels:

  • Mobile banking: Open your banking app, choose 1Bill or Bill Payment, enter the PSID, and confirm payment.
  • Internet banking: Via your commercial bank web portal under bill/invoice payments.
  • ATM: Select 1Bill / Bill Payment at any commercial bank ATM.
  • Bank counter: Over the counter cash deposit at any commercial bank branch.

Important: The PSID voucher expires after 2 days. If it lapses before payment, you must start over from Step 1. Once paid, the subscription status updates to Paid; click Refresh on the portal if it does not update instantly, then click Proceed.

5 Step 5: Verify Your Mobile and Email by OTP

On the Information Authentication screen, click Send OTP. Enter the 6-digit verification codes sent separately to your registered mobile number and FBR email address, then click Submit. If you receive the error message "Mobile Number does not belong to entered CNIC", the SIM card is not registered under your personal CNIC. You must use a SIM registered strictly under your name.

6 Step 6: Complete Biometric Verification at NADRA e-Sahulat

PSW will send you an email notification instructing you to complete biometric verification. Visit any physical NADRA e-Sahulat franchise with:

  • Your original valid CNIC.
  • Your PSW Application ID (received via email and SMS).
  • The mobile phone carrying your registered SIM card.

Only the individual whose CNIC was submitted can perform the fingerprint scan. Once the NADRA operator confirms the biometric match, your Biometric Status updates to Verified. Return to the PSW application page and click Proceed.

7 Step 7: Create Your Password and Log In

PSW emails your permanent User ID (UID) along with a secure password generation link. Your password must be at least 8 characters long, containing at least one uppercase letter, one number, and one special character. PSW automatically blocks common dictionary patterns such as city names or consecutive numbers. Once set, access the official trade portal at app.psw.gov.pk.

After Subscription: Register with Customs as a Trader

Crucial Requirement: Completing the initial subscription only creates your portal credentials. You cannot file Goods Declarations (GDs) or clear cargo until you register your operational role with Pakistan Customs.

  1. Log in to the PSW portal at app.psw.gov.pk. You arrive at the Registration dashboard.
  2. Click Trader.
  3. Select your registered business name, business address and operating city, and choose the user sub-type: Commercial or Non-Commercial.
  4. Upload the required verification documents. If your business has multiple directors or partners, upload an official Authority Letter.
  5. Click Submit. Complete Trader operational features will now activate on your dashboard.

Note: Licensed customs agents follow the same dashboard workflow, clicking "Customs Agent" and validating their licence number. FTN holders cannot register as customs agents.

Link Your Bank Profile in PSW

Under State Bank of Pakistan regulations, PSW has completely eliminated the old manual Electronic Import Form (EIF) and Electronic Form E (EFE). These paper workflows are replaced by digital bank profiles exchanged electronically between PSW and your Authorized Dealer bank.

  1. In the PSW portal, navigate to Registration > Banks > Associate New Profile.
  2. Select your commercial bank and enter your 24-digit IBAN, along with the email and mobile number your bank maintains on record for that account. Details must match the bank's KYC ledger exactly.
  3. Click Submit. Your bank verifies the profile over EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and assigns authorized payment modes for import and export transactions.

You can associate multiple commercial bank accounts with a single PSW User ID. When filing a Goods Declaration, simply select your linked bank and attach the relevant Financial Instrument (Letter of Credit, Advance Payment, or Contract/Collection). Your bank transmits the instrument digitally to PSW, eliminating physical branch visits. Open-account trade transactions require no Financial Instrument.

Authorize Your Customs Clearing Agent

If a licensed clearing agency handles port clearance on your behalf, you must authorize them inside the PSW portal. The clearing agent must already hold an active registration in the Customs Agent role.

To authorize New Line Freight Systems for import customs clearance at Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Port Qasim (QICT), or South Asia Pakistan Terminals (SAPT), contact our Zamzama operations desk at +92 321 2020154 and we will provide the exact licence credentials to link.

To renew, log in to the portal, navigate to Profile Management, click Renew Subscription, pay the PKR 500 PSID within 10 days, complete the automated FBR, OTP, and PMD checks, and repeat biometric verification at NADRA e-Sahulat. An expired subscription immediately halts all pending Goods Declarations, so initiate renewal promptly.

PSW Registration FAQs

How much does PSW registration cost?

PKR 500, paid once through an automated PSID voucher. Renewal every two years costs an additional PKR 500.
